Parafield Gardens High School has been running a Specialist soccer program since 2018.
The Year 9-12 program is staffed by specialist Soccer Coaches within the HPE teaching staff. The program is continuing to evolve with intention to expand into Year 8 and to create a Year 9 and 10 female team.
Previous Achievement:
- State-wide 2019 Year 9 boys 5-side Champions
- State-wide 2019 Year 9 boys Futsal Champions
- State-wide 2020 Year 8/9 runner up champions
- State-wide 2020 Senior boys 11-side Semi-finalist (top 4).
Competitions entered throughout the year:
- 5-side outdoor day carnival (Year 8, 9/10 and Senior)
- 11-side weekly competition (5-6 rounds Home and Away – Year level 8/9)
- Futsal Statewide (Year 8/9 and Senior)
- 11-Side Statewide (Year 8/9, 10, Senior)
- Local school soccer program exhibition matches (Roma Mitchell HS, Craigmore HS, Banksia Park HS, Salisbury East HS Year 8-12)
- Playford Invitational Carnival (Year 8/9 and 10)
Current Curriculum:
- Year 9 combined class (Male + Female)
- Aligns with Year 9HPE Curriculum and Australian Curriculum with a specific focus on Soccer
- Students complete the same PE and Health curriculum with the same teacher across the whole year
- Students have access to develop their skills through targeted training sessions
- Students participate in extracurricular games against other schools
Year 10 combined class
- Aligns with Year 10HPE Curriculum and Australian Curriculum with a specific focus on Soccer
- Students complete the same PE and Health curriculum with the same teacher across the whole year
- Students provided the opportunity to enhance their skills by facilitating training sessions for their peers
- Students participate in extracurricular games against other schools
Year 11 (Stage 1 – PE) combined class
- SACE Stage 1 PE curriculum same as mainstream with a Soccer focus for all tasks
- Students also take on a mentoring role for junior classes during training and game day against other schools
Year 12 (Stage 2 – Integrated Studies)
- SACE Stage 2 Integrated Studies Curriculum with a Soccer focus for all tasks
- *Students are also able to pick SACE Stage 2 Physical Education
