Plus (personalised learning, understanding and support) is an intervention program which attempts to re-engage students with the PGHS curriculum.
We acknowledge that some students have difficulties engaging with the curriculum and the reasons for this are varied and complex. However, Parafield Gardens High School is committed to keeping all students on site through comprehensive flexible learning programs that seek to identify the issues that are preventing engagement, and working with students so they have the self-confidence, self-regulation and self-efficacy to be successful in their education.
PLUS uses the Berry Street Education Model to assist with a positive approach to behaviour and student wellbeing.
PLUS is an onsite program for years 8-10 that delivers:
Hands on and practical learning based on student interest
Case management
Differentiated curriculum focussing on core skills
Capabilities focused learning
Strong community engagement and parent/carer input (holistic support)
The aim of PLUS is to deliver intensive, short term intervention and investment so students can be successful in their learning.
